Nominee Profile: Entergy Corporation

The Company:
Entergy Corporation, with annual revenues of nearly $10 billion, is a major integrated energy company engaged in power production, distribution operations and related diversified services, with more than 15,000 employees. Entergy owns, manages or invests in power plants generating more than 30,000 megawatts of electricity domestically and internationally, and delivers electricity to about 2.6 million customers in portions of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas. Through Entergy-Koch, L.P., it is also a leading provider of wholesale energy marketing and trading services, as well as an operator of natural gas pipeline and storage facilities.

The nuclear businesses of Entergy Corporation are headquartered in Jackson, MS. Entergy Nuclear is the second largest and fastest growing operator of nuclear power plants in the nation. It operates five reactors at four locations in Arkansas, Mississippi and Louisiana under regulatory jurisdictions and an additional five reactors at four merchant sites in Massachusetts, New York and Vermont. Entergy Nuclear also is the nation's largest provider of license renewal and decommissioning services to the nuclear power industry.  Learn more about Entergy at www.entergy.com.

On Why They Have Entered The American Business Awards:
"You learn the true measure of an organization, not in good times, but in a crisis," said Curtis Hébert, Entergy executive vice president of external affairs. "When faced with back-to-back weather emergencies, the employees of Entergy rose to the challenge in extraordinary fashion.

"Our storm restoration team quickly assembled an impressive force of employees, contractors and loaned labor to restore service to our communities. One of the most critical things we do during times like this, besides restoring power, is keeping our customers, the media, and our employees informed about our efforts. The communications team did an outstanding job of managing this crucial process and did so with caring and sensitivity for all involved.

"The positive media coverage and support from employees and customers speak volumes about the success of their work, but don’t capture the teamwork and can-do attitude that characterized the efforts of Entergy’s hurricane communications response team. A Stevie Award would be a fitting recognition for these communications professionals whose efforts turned what could easily have been a public relations nightmare into a positive, successful event for Entergy."
